On November 15, 2021 we purchased a 2006 red Ford Ranger for our grandson. We had five days to decide if we wanted to keep it or not. We had it inspected by a reputable car repair person. They found out that the battery was dead so we had to replace the battery first thing. There were a few other minor things wrong thematic Auto Nation should have taken care of that ended up costing us around $400. We did not go back to the dealer to deal with this. I’m hindsight we should have done this. We just thought we would just let it alone. We realized that the vehicle had over 206,000 miles on it, but we thought that it was in good condition since we had our auto mechanic look it over and Auto Nation was supposed to have given it a good inspection. I have to say that our mechanic did not find anything wrong. Just 2 1/2 months later, my grandson was driving the truck to school on Rt. 54 which is a very busy highway in Peachtree City. The truck slowed down, made a loud noise & stopped in the left lane during rush hour traffic. Our Grandson had only been driving since the end of September, but he handled it really well. He stayed in the car and put his flashers on. Someone called the police and by the time I got there, the tow truck was there to tow the truck to our auto mechanic. It turns out that the engine went and we have to put in a whole new engine for $6500. We had originally paid around $7000 for this truck, so between the $7,000 that we paid, the $800 we had to pay in repairs to get it in driving condition and the $6500 for the new engine(which the dealer is getting from Auto Nation Ford) we will have paid $14,300 for this truck. After leaving a couple phone calls to the service manager and leaving a Google negative review, I finally got a phone call early this morning. After going around with the service manager who wanted to debate over everything I said and him calling our repair service person to see exactly what happened, they have decided not to do anything to help with his problem. He said that we bought a truck with over 206,000 miles on it & that we should have known that things could go wrong with it. Of course we knew that, but we did not plan on the engine going! I asked the service manager four times what how he how he would feel if he had purchased a truck and the engine went in 2 1/2 months. Of course, he did not give me an answer. If you are buying a used vehicle from this place, please beware. Of course we did that and we still ended up having to spend twice as much on the truck. But we have no choice. We do not want to start all over again to purchase another used vehicle . I feel that they could have offered to at least charge us cost for the engine. But they chose not to help at all. I would not recommend Auto Nation Ford for buy used cars.
